Dear Mr. Thomson -

A line in terrible haste to beg you to drop the matter I wrote to you about - I mean the cutting from the Pall Mall[4] - I had scarcely glanced at it - and my mind was I suppose so full of Sheridan Ford[5] that I fancied any thing - I have today seen another copy of the "Epitaph", and on reading see at once that it is quite another affair - and really very bright - and I wouldn't have it thought that I should have misunderstood.

May I rely upon you to say nothing about it. Have you done any thing about [p. 2] the Sarasate[6]? -

Of course show the affidavit[7] all over -
