SUCCESSORS / BOUSSOD VALADON & CO.
Dear Sir -
I am anxious to hear all further news - and trust you are getting together quite a large group of things for the exhibition - Please write and let me know exactly what is promised and what is already sent - -
What about the portrait of Lady Meux[4]? - Do you know if the Lady has been herself? -
You might write to Mr. J. J. Shannon[5] the portrait Painter, and ask him to lend the sea piece of [p. 2] mine that he bought -
Mrs Peter Taylor[6] of Brighton has a fine sea piece - She is the widow of late member of Parliament[7] - What pictures has Mr. Alexander A. Ionides[8] lent? -
Has Mrs. Leyland[9] sent her nocturne? - I want you to get all these things in as soon as you can, that they may be taken to Mr. Richards[10] for him to look at - clean and varnish wherever necessary (keeping separate accounts of each transaction - not to be sent in until further advice from myself) - Then my Mr. Grau[11] will call and take measures for new frames for most of them -
Any news from America? -
Have you any answer from the Hon. Mrs. Wyndham[12]? Has Mr. Harrison[13] written? -
Send any[14] news
Very truly Yours -
J McN. Whistler
D. C. Thomson Esq.
