My dear friend,
Your melancholy letter[2] is at hand and I am very sorry to have to read a letter the tenor of which is so melancholy and fraught with evil premonitions. I sincerely hope that you may be in error as to Mrs. Whistler's[3] danger.
Shortly after your letter left, you got a draft for 250 /- /- as advised, which I am glad has reached you so opportunely. I need not therefore telegraph the money you ask for, as [p. 2] you already have got it and 50 /- /- more.
Yes, I know what life means to you, and how enjoyable it all was. The delightful retreat away from noise and bustle, and the charming garden[4]! Surrounded by congenial people what more does one require?
I wrote to you this morning[5] and wish you would send the lithographs ordered a few days ago. Also those asked for by David[6] to fill out a little order. I hasten to reply to your letter just arrived [p. 3] before closing time.
Regards to all,
As ever,
Sincerely Yours,
E. G. Kennedy.
