Dear Sir

The petition[2] was presented today by a deputation of artists and laymen and was well received. We procured the signatures of Orchardson[3] - Millais[4] Gilbert[5] - Murray[6] - MacTaggart R. S. A.[7] Robt Alexander R. S. A.[8] and Lawton Wingate R. S. A.[9]. We now hope that no time will be lost by the Corporation people [p. 2] comming [sic] to a decision & I hope we may have the fortune of possessing your great picture.
