Arrangement in Black, No. 8: Portrait of Mrs Cassatt (YMSM 250) was begun on 3 April 1883. However, the Cassatts did not receive it until 1886/7 when JW, feeling guilty about the amount of time he had taken, sent The Chelsea Girl (YMSM 314) along as well, as a present.
