[crown over clover in belt:] THE REFORM CLUB
My dear Whistler,
Shannon[2] & I have written you and done our best to see you during your flying visit the other day - re Portrait Society[3] - Archie[4] promised me [he would] call upon you in Paris - but Monte Carlo has entirely extinguished his small writing capacities as I've heard nothing.
Last night was a crucial meeting of the Society & Shannon & I took the bull by the horns. [p. 2] Got you elected & said that you would be willing. The Society rose at your name & also put you on the Committee for this year.
Now my dear fellow I know that you won't be angry & not give us away - We did our best to get word from you & you are necessary to the welfare of a Society which I believe you take a real interest in.
Send me a line - Shannon writes you also - at least he said that he would
Yrs faithfully
F G Prange
