Dear Mr Whistler
I will not[2] lend my picture for any exhibition[3], which Mr Stewart-Wortley[4] has the management of. It is useless your writing to Sir Henry[5] about my [p. 2] picture because unless I chose[6] to lend it, you would not[7] be able to have it, over these matters I reign supreme however when the pink[8] is returned, I will let you have the black & white[9] one, providing Mr S. Wortley [p. 3] is out of it. When I promised to lend you the picture I did not[10] say when[11] I would do so, therefore I have not broken any promise. As I hope we shall both live a great many years there is plenty of time to keep it.
With kind regards
Yours Sincerely
V B Meux
