Letter written on JW's behalf in the hand Charles James Whistler Hanson (1870-1935), engineer, son of JW and Louisa Fanny Hanson [more]. Hanson was then acting as his secretary.

4.  Rix Birnie's
Beatrix Whistler (1857-1896), née Beatrice Philip, artist [more]. She exhibited paintings at the Royal Society of British Artists during JW's Presidency. There are oils by her in the Hunterian Art Gallery (see MacDonald, Margaret F., Beatrice Whistler Artist and Designer, Glasgow, 1997).
