My dear Whistler
After you left I had my sitting with the "Herr Buchhalter"[2] and found my balance by "Scharlachfieber[3] & sehr langes Nichtsthun" so reduced that the enclosed is all I may allow myself for what will be a very great treat to me - If you will not be hurt or offended & will do me whatever & whenever you like & (if it is the slightest sketch) - you give me - believe me - very great delight - As I had [p. 2] always a fervent wish to have some specimen of your genius I am mean enough - to utilize the right moment - after our interesting conversation - & take you at your word & wait for your leisure[.] Be not vexed with
Always yours
J E Boehm
