It is all right about the certificate -
Webb[3] came last night after all - He was very nice indeed - But wishes by hook or by crook to get that lease - He knows one of or two members of the Board and will do what he can - Flower[4] he had seen - but he said the case was different as Flower could afford to wait having his own money - I will tell you all the conversation when I see you -
[p. 2] The upshot being that he Webb is with us and distinctly not against us - I said to him "The builder[5] is ready for another payment - and Godwin is to give him the certificate I believe tomorrow - of course you will not hesitate for [a] moment about paying it?" to which the Dook replied - Oh certainly not that will be all right I will pay it - -
In short all the certificates will be paid as they are presented - Webb said that there should be no hitch on his part now - The building shall be paid for right through - But I have promised that you will see Vulliamy[6] - and make friends with him -
Kindest regards -
