This is an autograph note inscribed on the front endpaper of a presentation copy of Whistler, James McNeill, The Gentle Art of Making Enemies, 2nd ed., London and New York, 1892. The book was advertised for sale in the listings of Ulysses Bookseller, London, and was said to include 'a slightly illegible A.L.S. from a Mr. Forbes to the presentee', pasted onto the verso of the front endpaper.
