My dear Whistler.
The Exhibition[2] is progressing very nicely & it looks as if it would be a success financially as well as artistically. The weather has been beastly & I am a martyr to lumbago which has kept me in the house & I suspect deterred a good many people from coming (I [p. 2] mean the weather not my lumbago -[)]
We are sending on a first order to Way[3] as per agreement. It contains a series bought by Mr Frank Harris[4] which he requires at once as he's going abroad & he also wants signing in full[5] - We told him we doubted your doing it but he said he was sure you would do it for him - Perhaps it will be as well to make friends with the mammon of unrighteousness which the Saturday certainly is.
They gave me the most awful slating a few months ago (see the enclosed tract) The two articles were written [p. 3] by Ernest Hart[6] because foresooth - I wouldn't have an Exhibition of his wifes[7] drawings here - at least that is the only reason I can assign -
But I return to the lithographs. Those required by Harris are

The latter may have been drawn at Guincamp on the Cotes-d'Armor in Brittany, rather than Lannion.
