Dear Mr Whistler

The lithographs[2] (35 in number) have arrived & very beautiful they look - They shall be pressed -

Will you let me know on Monday morning whether we may expect you Tuesday or Wednesday [p. 2] for the hanging because we do not want to disarrange Marshall[3] until the last moment especially as we have such a crowd coming & going.

I hope too that you will be able to be up for the Private View on Saturday - It would be a real compliment & would add greatly to the success of the show[.] In fact unless you are there it will not be a success, but of course [p. 3] as regards this it is entirely as you wish -

On Friday evening the "Sette of odd volumes" meet & we usually have an interesting evening & a fairly good dinner & good wine - I have two guests of differing fame - John Murray[4], head of the Publishing House, & Horace Hutchinson[5] who won the Championship at Golf & is a very [p. 4] good fellow, as in fact both are - It would be a great pleasure if you would also honour me with your company - After dinner we have a paper read by one Alfred East[6] on "Romanticism in Art", I think it is, & you might enjoy sitting on this.

Failly yrs

Marcus B Huish

I send sketch of the flag just in. Kindly return it at once[7] this only for size & shape[8] -
