21 - Cheyne Walk. Chelsea -
Dear Mr. Harry -
How nice and charming of you! - I am in every way delighted with what you have written - and feel sure that you would have been greatly pleased had you been present on the occasion you so capitally describe -
Now I send you a very bright article from a very pretty paper you will [p. 2] rejoice in - "The Whirlwind" -
It is perfectly new in every sense - and has taken London really by storm -
It is edited and written entirely by two distinguished young fellows - Gentlemen[3] - and is of a lightness and freshness and independence naturally quite unknown in England -
It would be graceful of you if you spoke of the paper itself in The Indépendence - and the Editors would be charmed with your appreciation -
They are sending you a copy -
Our friend Mr. Augustus Moore[4] has contented himself with writing a scurrilous account of how he thrashed me!! -
I can scarcely thank you enough for all the kind trouble you have taken about the pictures - but hope soon to be able to tell you how kind I think it of you - At present however I fear I shall yet be obliged to remain in town for awhile because of all this!
A bientot therefore - Meanwhile pray present our kindest souvenirs and compliments to Madame Harry[5] - My wife[6] bids me [p. 3] send you a special message of thanks for the very great pleasure you have given her by the brilliant and sympathetic article to which we shall owe a clear understanding of the situation all over the Continent - -
Again with a thousand thanks and my warmest expression of friendship,
believe me my dear Mr. Harry,
Very sincerely Yours
