BEEFSTEAK CLUB,[3]
KING WILLIAM STREET,
STRAND, W. C.
The fates are against me I am afraid dear Mrs. Pattison - for it comes back to what I first said - some day next week - longer for me to wait than I had hoped -
However suppose we say next Tuesday or Wednesday - at about half past four or five? - I shall trouble you with very few pictures - and will give [p. 2] you a Twining[4] cup of tea if you will come - Qu'en dites vous[5]? -
Your lunch today was most perfect - the coffee amazing - and the graceful hostess most sympathetic and fascinating -
I enjoyed the afternoon most thoroughly - and shall remind you of your promise to have me again -
Meanwhile à bientôt
J McNeill Whistler
