Identity:
Charles Beilby Stuart-Wortley, MP, was a barrister. He married Beatrice Trollope (d. 1881) and secondly, Alice Sophia Caroline Millais, daughter of the painter.
Life:
Stuart-Wortley was called to the bar in 1876. He was MP for Sheffield from 1880-85. Later he became Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department and in 1895, Church Estates Commissioner. A keen musician and member of the Beefsteak Club, he was a neighbour of JW's and lived at 7, Cheyne Walk.
