Identity:
Theodore Blake Wirgman (1848-1925), painter and etcher.
Life:
He studied at the Royal Academy schools and became a painter of history and genre subjects and portraits. He also worked as an illustrator for the Graphic.
He had a studio at 24 Dawson Place, London, W11, and in 1889 (when he was in contact with Whistler, was living at 24 Dawson Place. He was a member of The Arts Club (of which Whistler was a member) from 1892 until at least 1920.
