Sir Andrew Barclay Walker was married twice, first to Eliza Reid and then to Maude Okeover and had five sons.
Life:
Andrew Barclay Walker was educated at Ayr Academy and later at the Liverpool Institute. He was the Mayor of Liverpool and the founder of the Walker Art Gallery. He was knighted in 1877 following his gift of the Walker Art gallery to Liverpool and made a Baron in 1886. Sir Andrew Barclay Walker died at his home, Gateacre Grange in Liverpool in 1893.
He is mentioned in the diary of Lois Buchanan Cassatt who spent time in London and was painted by Whistler. On 20 April 1893 at 7.45 pm Mrs Cassatt went to dine with Sir Andrew Walker.
