Graham Petrie was a landscape artist, poster designer and author. He was the brother of the watercolour landscape painter Elizabeth Petrie.

Petrie was widely travelled. He was also an active exhibitor, showing in London at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Fine Art Society, Dowdeswell Galleries, Grosvenor Gallery, New Gallery, New English Art Club and Society of British Artists, a society that appointed JW its President in 1886. In 1903 he was elected a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1920.

Petrie was among those invited to attend a dinner organised by W. C. In 1892 he appears to have also been invited to a private viewing of JW's exhibition Nocturnes, Marines and Chevalet Pieces being held at the Goupil Gallery in London (#11530).
