Identity:
Robert Stewart Patterson was a Scottish songwriter and song collector. He was from Edinburgh.
Life:
Patterson wrote to Whistler (whom he had never met) to express how much he admired his etchings. These etchings were exhibited at the time in the Fine Art society, London in an exhibition called 'Mr Whistler's Etchings'.
He was possibly the author of 'Romanian Songs and Ballads' published in London in 1917 and 'Songs from the far away' also published in London, in 1918.
