Life:
In 1872 Patisson lived at 5 Hans Place, Sloane Street, near JW's home in Tite Street, Chelsea. JW enjoyed her hospitality and found 'the graceful hostess most sympathetic and fascinating' (#11011). In August 1882 JW invited Patisson to a tea party at his home and drew a picture of her with himself and a dog. Whistler with his friend Mrs Patterson (M.872) depicts her as a fashionable women, wearing a stylish dress with layers of frills and drapery gathered into a bustle.
