Identity:
John Murray was proprietor of the old-established publishing house of John Murray (founded 1768).
Life:
He was the editor of The Autobiographies of Edward Gibbon (1896) and contributed to works on Byron amongst others. He was also a J. P. and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
He is referred to in JW's correspondence about 1895.
