Identity:
Ludwig von Löefftz or Löfftz was a painter and Director of the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich.
Life:
His pupils included the American artist Theodore Wores, the German painter and draughtsman Franz von Stuck and the Swiss painter and printmaker Karl Stauffer-Bern. Another pupil, Frank Duveneck, whom JW knew in Venice, made a portrait of him Professor Ludwig von Löfftz (c. 1873; Cincinnati Art Museum, OH).
