Identity:
Sir George James Graham Lewis was a solicitor. He was the son of the society lawyer Sir George Henry Lewis, of Lewis & Lewis, and his father's second wife Elisabeth Eberstadt. He had two sisters, Gertrude and Katherine (d. 1961), and a half-sister Alice Victoria, from his father's first marriage to Victorine Kann (d. 1865).
Life:
G. J. G. Lewis was the junior partner of Lewis & Lewis, solicitors, of 10-11 Ely Place, Holburn Circus. His father represented JW in several affairs, for example in the case against Frederick Leyland regarding the ownership of Pink and Grey: Three Figures (YMSM 89). JW was in correspondence with 'Young George' in 1894 over Du Maurier's representation of him in Trilby (#13734). George Lewis junior was a member of The Arts Club from 1896 to 1910.
