Walter Cranston Larned was a lawyer, author and editor.

Life:

Larned was the art editor of the Chicago Daily News and the Chicago Record. His books included Rembrandt : a romance of Holland, New York, 1898.

He was the Vice-Chairman and Secretary of the Committee on Congresses of Artists for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893, at which JW exhibited. In September 1892 Larned invited JW, on behalf of the General Committee on Congresses of Painters, Sculptors and Illustrative Artists, to make an address at this exhibition (#00602). However, JW never returned to the United States in person.
