Frank Larned Hunt was a classmate of JW's at the United States Military Academy at West Point. His mother Martha Bull Larned Hunt came from Detroit.

Life:

Frank Larned Hunt was a distant connection of Benjamin Franklin Larned, Paymaster-General of the US from 1854 to 1862. Sometime around 1851 to 1854, Larned's son, Charles Trowbridge Larned (also known as 'Frank') attended West Point Academy along with Hunt and JW.

Judging from his letters (#02197, #02198, #02199), Hunt was an amusing and frivolous young friend of JW in Washington DC, and possibly worked with him at the US Coast and Geodetic Survey. In 1882 he was living in Manitoba and seems to have tried to renew contact with JW (#02200).
