George Harvey was a Scottish painter.

Life:

Harvey studied in the Trustees Academy in Edinburgh under Andrew Wilson and William Allan. In his maturity he produced history paintings and genre scenes influenced by the style of David Wilkie and frequently reflecting the religious life of Scotland, both past and present, e.g. Coventers' Preaching (1830; Glasgow Art Galleries and Museums). He was a founder member of the Royal Scottish Academy and became its president in 1864.
