Henry Gillard Glindoni was a London genre and historical painter.

Life:

Glindoni specialised in costume pieces set in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and was also known for his paintings of Cardinals. He was active exhibiting between 1872 to 1904, showing at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers, Old Water Colour Society, Royal Water Colour Society and Society of British Artists in London, as well as at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and Manchester City Art Gallery. In 1879 Glindoni was elected a member of the Society of British Artists, a Society which was to appoint JW its President in 1886, and in 1883 he was made an associate of the Royal Water Colour Society.
