Identity:
Harold Frederic was a novelist and journalist; he was married with a daughter, Ruth.
Life:
Frederic began his career as a reporter in Utica and eventually joined the New York Times becoming a European correspondent. In the 1890s he was the Times correspondent in London. He is referred to in JW's correspondence about 1896. His novels include Seth's Borther's Wife (1887); Marsena (1895) and March Hares (1896).
