Identity:
John Fisher was a lawyer in the firm of solicitors, Fisher and Gatey of Windermere in Cumbria.
Life:
Fisher was the Commissioner in Chancery and the Common Law Courts, and Commissioner for the Duchy of Lancaster and Durham County. He was also Clerk to the Bowness Local Board, to the Burial Board and to the Ambleside authorities, as well as Registrar of the County Court of Windermere. In August 1877 Rose contacted him with a writ on Ruskin for the Whistler v. Ruskin trial. However, his partner George Gatey informed him that Fisher had retired, and took the duties on himself (#08905, #11941).
