Sophie Fass was the wife of Adolph Fass (b. 1840), a South Africa merchant living and working in London. He was born in Germany but became a naturalised British subject. He was possibly the son of Adolph Fass of Natal. They had three daughters and two sons.
In 1883 Sophy Fass lived at 16 Courtfield Gardens, Kensington, London. She was friendly with Lois Cassatt, who visited her in this year while she was in London sitting to JW for her portrait [#11811].
