Alexander Dennistoun was an MP and a businessman.
Life:
Alexander Dennistoun was MP for Dumbartonshire from 1835-1837. He was a Director of the Edinburgh and Bathgate Railway and on the provisional committees for the Caledonian Railway, the Clydesdale Junction Railway, and the Scottish Central and Caledonian Junction Railway. Dennistoun was a partner in J. and A. Dennistoun of Glasgow and New York, and of Dennistoun, Cross and Co., London.
He was a member of the Burlington Fine Arts Club, which JW was forced to leave in 1867. He may have known JW in the mid-seventies, when his name appears in an address book (#12714).
