Life:
Davenport was a solicitor and clerk of the peace at the County Buildings, New Road, Oxford. He was also district registrar of the court of probate, deputy registrar of the diocese of Oxford, secretary to the Lord Bishop of Oxford, notary and public commissioner in the Irish Court of Chancery and Under Sherriff of Oxfordshire. He was the compiler of Lord Lieutenants and High Sheriffs of Oxfordshire 1068-1868.
Davenport was involved in the Whistler v. Ruskin libel case and in 1877 attempted to contact Ruskin to serve a writ (#12101).
