Edward John Cobbett was a genre and landscape painter.
Life:
Cobbett trained under the landscape painter J. W. Allen. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1833 and 1880, showing works such as The Proposal (1863). He also exhibited with the Society of British Artists, which was to elect Whistler its President in June 1886, exhibiting Heather Bells in 1859.
