Identity:
Colonel Albany Hawke Charlesworth, JP, of Chapelthorpe Hall, was a wealthy Major of Volunteers. In 1881 he was unmarried and living with his mother, sister and a large household of about 20 servants.
Life:
He was Lord of the manor of Grinton in North Riding. He was elected MP for Wakefield in July 1892. It is possible that JW knew him as a potential patron, about 1892.
