Identity:

Nettie Carpenter was a virtuoso violinist. She was the pupil of Pablo de Sarasate, who was the godfather to her child (#06626).

Life:

She knew both JW and his brother William, and was referred to several times in the 1890s. She was described by JW as 'the brazen Nettie', and was involved in a divorce case. She later re-married and became Mrs Stearn (#06720). In February 1895 she tried 'on her tour' to call on JW and his wife in Paris but they would not receive her.
