Bompard was a painter of seascapes and genre.
Life:
He was a pupil of Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre. He exhibited at the Salon from 1878. He was celebrated for his Venetian and Algerian views, sparkling with sunlight. He was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1914. He was a member of the Socié Internationale de Peinture et Sculpture, Paris, when JW was an Honorary Member in 1901 (see #05498).
