Identity:
George Nevitt Bennett was an art dealer at 48 Pall Mall, London.
Life:
Bennett was a member of The Arts Club from 1869-77. In 1874 he was invited to the private view of JW's first one man show, Mr Whistler's Exhibition, held in the Flemish Gallery, Pall Mall (#00292).
However, there is some doubt about the identification, since one of the same name was a solicitor in the firm of Bennett,Dawson and Bennett of Lincoln's Inn in 1880.
