Dear Symons -

Forgive my not writing before - However Macnab[4] and I had gone over the form of statement or letter from the Secretary[5] and he will tell you all about it -

On reflection though I think I prefer the words: "honour conferred upon him by the Royal Academy of Bavaria", to "honour conferred upon him by H R H the Prince Regent[6]" — It is simpler [p. 2] and less pretentious!

The letter is written by JW but p. 3 is a list written by W. C. Symons.

Peter Macnab (d. 1900), landscape and rustic genre painter [more].

Of the Bavarian Embassy. JW had been awarded to Order of St Michael of Bavaria, and a dinner in his honour was being organised by Symons at the Criterion in April 1889.

7.  The figure head ...
W. C. Symons, The Figure Head of the Cupid, heads this list in Symons' hand of his works. This painting was exhibited at the Society of British Artists in 1887, and reproduced in the Magazine of Art, 1887. Unfortunately Symon's writing is practically illegible.
