Copy of rough minutes, of the monthly meeting held September 5th 1887
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
A letter from Mr Holmes was read, enclosing letters from Mr Gadsby and Mr Percy Thomas, which were also read, (these related to the proposed exhibition of a selection of the works by the late Mr F. H. Potter in the Winter Exhibition). - A letter was read from Mr J. D. Watson, also one from Mr Boot. -
The A copy of the Acting Secretary's official reply to Mr Carters letter of resignation was read.
The business of the meeting was then proceeded with, when it was proposed by Mr A Hill seconded by Mr Girardot, that a selection of the works of the late Mr F. H. Potter be obtained for the next Winter Exhibition[;] carried unanimously.
The matter of receiving the authorisation of the Society to hold the Exhibition postponed from last Spring, of the Presidents works, was then considered, [p. 2] when it was proposed by Mr. Girardot seconded by Mr Roussel, that the authorisation of the Society to hold the Exhibition postponed from last Spring of the Presidents works be received, this was carried.
A financial Statement was laid before the meeting by the Treasurer
The letters from the Secretary of State were re-read by the President, together with his reply, - A letter from the Home Secretary granting the Title of Royal was read, also the Presidents reply. The President then read a copy of the memorial to Her Majesty, after which the memorial was inspected by the members

JW was elected President of the Society of British Artists on 1 June 1886 and took office in December. This copy of the minutes was written by A. F. or A. J. Le Patourel, painter, acting secretary of the SBA [more].
This correction, as well as the previous deleted addition of 'The', was made in pencil seemingly by JW.
