Louisa, Lady Wolseley, née Erskine, was the wife of Garnet Wolseley, first Viscount Wolseley.

Life:

Louisa, Lady Wolseley, married Garnet Wolseley, who is remembered as a leading moderniser of the British army and military strategist. Both knew JW in the 1870s and JW made a etching of Garnet Wolseley (Lord Wolseley (K.164)). Wolseley's biographer noted how Lady Wolseley's 'keen wit and shrewd observation influenced and aided her husband.' An edition of their correspondence The Letters of Lord and Lady Wolseley, 1870-1911, edited by Sir George Arthur, was published in 1922.
