Arthur James Richens Trendell was a barrister and civil servant. He married firstly Charlotte Marion Previté (d. 1883) and secondly, Eva Caroline Parker.

Life:

Trendell joined the Civl Service in 1855 and transferred to the Science and Art Department in 1865. He was called to the bar in 1874 but remained in the service, becoming Assistant Secretary of the department in 1896. He held a number of significant administrative positions; he was Assistant Secretary for Britain for the International Exhibitions in Paris and Vienna in 1867 and 1873 respectively. He was also British Secretary to the Philadelphia Exhibition, 1876 and Royal Commissioner for the Paris Exhibition, 1900.
