Admiral Pareja was a Spanish naval commander operating in the Pacific.

Life:

He was Minister of the Navy from March-September 1864, and was then appointed Commandante General of the Spanish Squadron of the Pacific, assuming command on 7 December 1864. He was subseuqnelt appointed Minister Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Peru, and promted to Lieutenant General of the Spanish Royal Navy.

Admiral Pareja committed suicide when he heard that the Chilean Captain Juan Williams had captured the 412 ton Spanish schooner Virgen de Covadonga in November 1865; he was succeeded by Commodore Casto Mendez Nunez.
