Homer Dodge Martin was a landscape and coastal painter.


During the early part of his career, Martin had a studio in New York and worked as a magazine illustrator. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design from 1857 and became a member of the Century Club in 1866. In 1882, he took a sojourn in Paris where he painted views of the Seine and Normandy. He returned to America in 1886 but received little recognition during his lifetime. He is referred to in JW's correspondence about 1897.
