Madame Maeterlinck was the wife of the attorney A. Maeterlinck.


A. Maeterlinck acted for JW in his action against Sheridan Ford in 1890-91. During this time Mme Maeterlinck made an impression on JW for her 'kind hospitalities' while her husband impressed him for his prowess in court [#13812]. He described her as 'an Englishwoman - very nice - and quite good looking' [#06601]. In 1894 Maeterlinck liaised on JW's behalf with organisers of the Exposition Universelle des Beaux Arts in Antwerp, to which JW contributed Arrangement in Black: Portrait of Señor Pablo de Sarasate (YMSM 315) among other works [#00190]. JW declared that he was looking forward to meeting Mme Maeterlinck once again [#13812].
