Andrew J. Kirkpatrick was a merchant and collector.
Life:
Kirkpatrick was admitted as a lay member of Glasgow Art Club on 28 February 1887. He was Chairman of the Council of the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts (RGI) 1891-1899. He lived at 179 West George Street, Glasgow.
He bought what he thought was a painting by Whistler, at auction at Dowell's Rooms in Edinburgh, 3 April 1886. In 1889 he it lent to an exhibition at the RGI but Whistler said it was not by him.
