Life:
Hoeck, a landscape painter, was active exhibiting between 1886 and 1931. He showed his work at the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Royal Scottish Academy and Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool.
Hoeck lived in Glasgow from 1885 to 1928, and was among those painters who in 1891 appended their names to a list requesting that the Corporation of Glasgow buy Arrangement in Grey and Black, No. 2: Portrait of Thomas Carlyle (YMSM 137) (#12326).
