His second wife, Mary Tyler Ropes (b. 1812), was the daughter of William Ropes, one of the most successful merchants of Salem, MA.
Gellibrand was merchant at St Petersburg with an interest in local cotton mills. He retired to Albyns Mansion, Chipping Ongar.
