George Francis was the Master of the Supreme Court of Judicature from 1879.

Francis was called to the Bar at Gray's Inn in 1850. He worked on the Queen's Bench from 1878 to 1879, and became Master of the Supreme Court of Judicature in 1879. Francis was involved in the Nightingale v. Whistler trial in November 1878. This case concerned JW's dispute with Nightingale over the construction cost of the White House, his studio house at Tite Street, which had far exceeded its original estimate. The size of the final bill pushed JW, already hard-pressed financially, towards crisis point (#13285).
