My dear O K! -
I am worked to extreme tension! Still we shall be delighted to see you. Bring the small O K with you and I daresay we shall manage some morning soon - Though not before the departure of the Chicago beauty -
[p. 2] It is too absolutely devilish - but of late all these beautiful things that I undertake are interfered with and my elbow jogged by the people wanting to go off on such a steamer!
No masterpiece should be subjected to such nonsense - What am I to do!
Of course I ought not to undertake them - but I am led on - and the work gets lovely and just as I ought to have calm and exceeding repose in order to produce all the beautiful detail that should mark the picture as something rare in quality, here they begin to nag and hasten me! -
London I suppose is dull - and you had better come here.
We are not well - and have been suffering much lately!
A bientot -
J.Mc N.Whistler -
Thomson was here but I was unable to see him. I daresay he has told you -
